SHOP OUR RANGEHi I'm the Isle of Summer designer, mum of two, wine lover, traveller and self proclaimed workaholic. I started my journey into the fashion world at 8 months pregnant with my second baby. My original kimono range was launched in October 2017 under the brand name of Mummy Couture and quickly grew a loyal following.
But I started to become concerned about the impact of fast fashion on both people and planet, so I made the bold decision to switch the manufacturing to ethically produced and thus rebranded the business to Isle of Summer Label in 2019.
I'm now spending my limited child-free time designing beautiful casual clothing for women to wear everyday, and sharing my personal journey to becoming more ethical and sustainable.
Our factory is the most important part of our business so it is critical we partner with a team who love their jobs, because happy employees create beautiful quality products. Therefore we choose to only work with factories who follow best ethical practices.
We aim to source the best fabrics which are sustainable to reduce our footprint on the plant.
The rayon fabric we use in our range is made from recycled tree pulp which is also locally produced in Indonesia. It also uses half the energy to produce than cotton. Reducing our footprint on the planet is important to us.
At Isle of Summer, we're not impressed by fast fashion and want you to wear our pieces for years, not just one season. We choose higher quality fabrics that will perform well over time and use french seams where possible to improve durability. Our fabrics are also pre-washed to avoid shrinking and when possible, low iron.
We're passionate about helping women and children. And nothing makes us more angry than the statistics of domestic violence rates in Australia. Currently 1 woman a week is killed as a result of domestic violence. We think this is unacceptable! As part of women helping women, we proudly donate $5 from every 3 pack of scrunchies to Share the Dignity.
Our beautiful planet is important to us and we are committed to minimising our footprint as much as possible. We only use plant based biodegradable garment and parcel bags and recycle all residual plastics that can't be eliminated.
We ship orders using minimal packaging with all important information provided via email or on our website. We use only 100% recycled paper and give away our shipment boxes for free on Gumtree.
If a garment does not meet our quality control standards (which doesn't happen often), it is used to create scarves and scrunchies. We also make scrunchies using fabric off cuts, thus reducing wasted fabric as much as possible.
